Privacy policy
In effect October 16, 2026. This policy explains, in plain words, what personal information Nid Chaud collects, why, where it is kept and what your rights are, under Quebec's private-sector personal information law (Law 25).
Who is responsible
Nid Chaud, a home maintenance and inspection service. The person in charge of personal information is the business owner, reachable at info@nidchaud.ca.
What we collect, and why
- Booking form and quote: your name, email, phone, the house address, the dates and reason for the absence, your message. To call you back, prepare the welcome visit and prepare the quote.
- Client file (once the agreement is signed): your contact details, the house's particulars (water main, panel, thermostat, instructions), your emergency contact's name and number, your insurer, the keys handed over (by tag number only), and the photos and videos taken at each visit. To do the visits, produce your reports and the log for your insurer, and invoice you.
- Client portal: your email and a password (stored hashed, never in clear), a session cookie to keep you signed in, and your language choice in your browser.
- Website: anonymous traffic statistics (Cloudflare Web Analytics, with no cookie or personal identifier).
We collect nothing else, and we never sell or rent this information.
Who we share it with
- Cloudflare, which hosts the site, the portal, the database and the files (photos, videos, documents). Its servers may be located outside Quebec, including in the United States.
- A licensed contractor (plumber, electrician, heating), only the address and what they need to know for a repair you authorized.
- Your insurer, only if you ask us to send them a report or the log; otherwise you hand it to them yourself.
- Authorities, only where the law requires it.
How long we keep it
- Booking requests that did not lead to an agreement: 12 months, then deleted.
- Client file, reports, photos and log: the duration of the agreement, then 3 years, so the log remains available for insurance purposes. You can ask for earlier deletion.
- Portal sign-in data: deleted when your account is closed.
Measures in place
Encrypted connections (HTTPS), hashed passwords, access to the file limited to the owner and to you, files served only to signed-in people, keys identified by a number without any address. We do not photograph your personal documents, and you can ask that certain rooms not be photographed.
Your rights
You can ask to see the information we hold about you, have it corrected, withdraw your consent or ask for its deletion, by writing to info@nidchaud.ca. We answer within 30 days. You can also complain to the Commission d'accès à l'information du Québec.
Cookies
The public site uses no tracking cookie. The portal and the admin use a single cookie, needed for the session, which expires after 30 days or when you sign out. Your preferred language is remembered in your browser only.
Changes
If this policy changes, the new version is published here with its date; clients are told by email of any significant change.
